Medical rehabilitation programs and services at Mount Sinai address a wide variety of needs, from first onset of disability through long-term – even life-long – management of conditions such as spinal cord and brain injuries, stroke, amputation, chronic pain, sports injuries and other physical and cognitive challenges:
- Inpatient services are provided in the Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Center, which is housed in the Klingenstein Clinical Center (Madison Avenue at 100th Street). All of the inpatient specialty programs provided within the Rehabilitation Center are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
- Outpatient physician services are provided in the sixth floor offices of Mount Sinai Doctors Faculty Practice, and are focused on rehabilitation medicine and interventional spine and sports medicine. Rehabilitation medicine services are also provided through outpatient clinics. The physicians in physical medicine who practice through the Faculty Practice can be contacted through linking to Doctors.
- Outpatient therapies are offered by members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, neuropsychology and vocational counseling.
- Outpatient special programs are specifically targeted to people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputations, lymphedema and vestibular and balance disorders. Other programs include hand therapy, the wheelchair and seating clinic and Transition to Fitness.
